The service we provide is simple-connection to a public sewer system in rural areas. Our District includes both Union and Franklin Counties in Indiana. The northern section of our service area flows to the Liberty, Indiana wastewater treatment facility and the southern portion flows to the town of Brookville, Indiana.
We provide sewer service to private residences, businesses and recreational subdivisions (campgrounds) within our boundaries. Many of these areas were not able to be served by septic systems, or it was simply not feasible. These areas are too far from a town to be served by them.
The Brookville Lake Regional Waste District was formed in 1974 by the State of Indiana primarily to protect the land and waterways of the Brookville Lake. Our existence helps ensure safe drinking water as well as safe waters for recreational fun such as swimming and boating.
In Union County, the District provides service to Whitewater State Park and residences from the park north to Liberty, Indiana. This flow is sent to the wastewater treatment plant located in Liberty. We also service Heritage Hills Campground, Brookville Lake Resort Campground, Lake Estates and businesses/residences in these areas. This flow is sent to the wastewater treatment plant in Brookville, Indiana.
In Franklin County, the District provides service to the Mounds Recreation area, Hickory Woods Campground and businesses/residences in that area, Fox Run Campground along with businesses/residences in that area, New Fairfield subdivision, Country Charm subdivision and other businesses and residences along State Route 101. All this flow is sent to the wastewater treatment plant in Brookville, Indiana.
